Not far away, the well-known submarine memorial towers on a headland in the fjord, marking the narrowest point in the estuary. On top of it, a mighty 4.60 meter high sea eagle is enthroned on a massive Weser sandstone pillar. Below the column, large plaques commemorate all submariners of German navies who lost their lives at sea in the line of duty.
