Theater op Platt

The Niederdeutsche Bühne at Wilhelmplatz preserves tradition while keeping up with the times. Classics are performed, but also brand new plays that have a completely different effect when translated into Low German. The theater is definitely worth a visit. That's what actress Britta Poggensee (actress) thinks.

Wenn man rinkümmt, hett dat so en komodige Atmosphäre. Un to‘n annern is de Sprook besünners.

You do not understand a word? Here you can find the translation:

"Why you should visit us? First of all, the theater is in a beautiful house. When you walk in, it has a very cozy atmosphere. It's just a building with a lot of history. And secondly, the language is special. After all, the language is also part of Schleswig-Holstein's history and culture. And even if you don't understand every word, you see what's happening on stage and you can figure out the rest. It's a beautiful language. I've often asked myself why I'm actually on stage acting instead of playing tennis or doing anything else. You work towards a result and then it's great when there's a nice response from the audience. When the guests have a nice evening, you know why you're doing it and putting so much energy into it."
