Live - for everyone - open-air and free of charge in Kiel's most beautiful center
That was the Bootshafensommer 2023
From July 21 - August 27, 2023, the 15th Bootshafensommer took place in the heart of Kiel's city center. On six weekends, visitors could look forward to a variety of live music and various themed days on Fridays and Saturdays between 3 pm and 10 pm.
Artists from a wide range of genres, from punk to classical to reggae, provided the soundtrack to summer for every taste against a maritime backdrop - you can listen to it again here: Audio sample. The organizers from Kiel-Marketing attach great importance to a wide range of music - and provide both newcomers from Kiel and nationally known acts with a stage in a unique location. The catering partners Dean&David, Cup&Cino, Forstbaumschule and many more spoiled the guests with culinary delicacies and summery cold drinks.

17. Kiel duck race
At the Kiel Duck Race, numbered yellow bathing ducks were released together into the freedom of Kiel's Bootshafen on August 27 . The ducks raced for first place on a fixed course. The ticket number holders of the fastest ducks won great prizes as well as lots of fun. On the duck, get set!
Charity weekend
When returning their cups and glasses on the last weekend of the event, all guests of the Bootshafensommer were able to simply waive the deposit on their cups and donate to the good cause. Our restaurateurs rounded up the collected amount by another 1000€. Deposit good, beer good, everything good! The Schleswig-Holstein Cancer Society supports people who are confronted with cancer. The non-profit, donation-funded association has been working to improve the care of cancer patients in Schleswig-Holstein since 1953. All services are free of charge for those affected and are financed entirely by donations.
1580€ for the Schleswig-Holstein Cancer Society e.V.
Over the entire 2023 charity weekend, €580 was donated by waiving the deposit on cups and glasses. Many thanks to all donors. The caterers Dean&David and Cup&Cino then rounded up another €1000, so that a total of €1580 could be handed over to the SH Cancer Society.

Poetry slam with and by Assemble Art
Spoken word at its finest. Texts - if you were a house - more elaborate, more detailed and more epochal than the Sagrada Familia. Assemble Art will present the finest from their repertoire at the Poetry Slam on August 12th and you decide who will be the king of epic word juggling!
Zu Gast am Bootshafen
School of Rock Timmendorf Strand
A music school that not only offers traditional music lessons in guitar, bass and drums, but also provides support and training for bands. Here, talented musicians are given the opportunity to grow together as a band and develop their skills. A special focus is placed on live performances, where the bands can perform in various clubs, festivals and even tours in Germany and beyond. This offers the students the valuable experience of playing in front of an audience and improving their performance skills.

The summer party of Kiel's international associations
On August 5, the working group of Kiel's foreign associations moved into our festival pagodas with colorful and multicultural diversity on the waterfront terrace of the Bootshafen. Starting at 3 p.m., the summer festival of Kiel's foreign associations - AKA for short - delighted visitors with culinary specialties, typical local dancing and singing as well as exciting facts about the various countries and communities. Associations from China, Japan, Ukraine, America, Russia, Ghana, Poland and Nigeria took part.

Pumpfoil. Festival as part of the Bootshafensommer
The first Saturday of the Bootshafensommer 2023 got off to a sporty start with the Pump Foil Festival by 1001 Events on the adjacent water area. From sprints and border crosses to expression sessions, everything was on offer for the foiling board artists. An impressive balancing act.

All participants, approx. 22 singers and 1 shanty lady (musician) with a lot of love and passion for maritime music.
Brendan Lewes
The British singer and songwriter is an experienced live performer. Folk in the direction of pop-rock, but the acoustic foundation remains.
Yasmin Sidibe
With her music, the soul/RnB artist appeals to people who are looking for connection. Her German lyrics are a call for self-reflection.
Leo in the Lioncage
With soulful vocals, a tight rhythm section and a powerful brass sound, the band creates an incomparable atmosphere.
Cats & Dinosaurs
The left-wing and feminist swing collective plays original Lindyhop dance music with political lyrics in Swedish and English.
