Journey by car

All roads lead to Kiel - travel options for every taste
Whether privately by car, or by public transport such as train and bus. Kiel is easy and stress-free to reach, so that everyone can spend relaxing vacations.
The A7 plays an important role here, as it offers all travelers from all directions the transition to the A215, a highway that conveniently also ends in downtown Kiel.
From the west via the A1, it is easy to get to the A7 near Hamburg, which comes from the south and ends in the north at the border with Denmark. Travelers from the east of Germany from cities such as Berlin or Leipzig need only to follow the A24 or the A14 and A2 to get to the A7.

Journey by train
Why stress with the car, when you can also reach Kiel easily and quickly by train. The „Deutsche Bahn“ offers the opportunity to switch off, relax and let the landscape fly past you, and to pursue your interests for which you otherwise do not find time and peace, such as reading a good book.
Whether directly from Hamburg, Hanover or Berlin, stay seated and leave the work comfortably to Deutsche Bahn.
Even on routes where there is no direct connection, you can get to Kiel quickly, and only have to change trains 1x in Hamburg. (e.g. from Bremen).
Journey by ship

Kiel is a major city near the sea, and is much connected with it, so its protection and cleanliness is of great importance.

There are daily journeys with the ferrys to or from Oslo, Göteborg and Klaipeda.

Journey by bus
There is a possibility to tour Kiel by bus as well:
- Kielius (The central omnibus station (ZOB) is located between Kiel central station and the Tourist-Information Kiel in the new town hall. About 100m distance. The journey time with the Kielius is about 1:30 hours)
- Flixbus (Stops at Kiel Central Bus Station "Intermis" ZOB. It´s located behind the Kiel train station)
Journey by plane

The airport of Hamburg ist just 85km away from Kiel and offers daily flights.
You'll get to Kiel by taxi in about 50 minutes, or you take the airport bus "Kielius".
